Silver Glockenspiel

I proudly present "Silver Glockenspiel", a Kontakt based instrument on which I was collaborating with MA-Simon.
The Glockenspiel has been carefully sampled both with mallets and a violin bow.
It was recorded in an acoustically treated room using two AKG Precision microphones.

Within this library you will find Solo and Section Patches.
The Instrument has been sampled cromatically from C3-C5. But the patch has an extended range to G2-C5 for the Mallets and to G2-E5 for the Bowings.

The volume of the Bowed Instruments is controlled with the modwheel.
There are looped and unlooped patches so you can either play the original recorded bowings ore the more smooth and looped ones for more fluid playing.

On the interface there are some handy controls for quick use of:
Attack and Release for all Mallet Patches and Attack, Hold, Decay, Sustain and Release for all the Bowed patches.

The instrument is for sale at sampleism.com for £4.99 (approximately $8 or €6) which is a steal for this library.

Modern modal scales on the natural notes

A more correct title would be "The modern Western music approach on the transposed version of what we think was the Greek system, based on work of a number of medieval musical theorists"... but that would be way too long.

Most modern, popular, western music has been largely based on the major and minor scales. Before this, most music was based on the seven traditional modes established by the Greeks.
I made a list because I couldn't find a good quality one on internet, good enough for printing, so here you have it:

Q - What this do ?

A - Rides the levels of vocal tracks, automatically.

Is kind of like a compressor but without compressing, without changing the color of the sound, squashing or touching the transients.

Now, some years ago, before this was developed I've seen something similar, way too similar to be just a coincidence: vocSteady

Even the controls are positioned very similar but is just 3 years older...

Amplitude Imposer

Takes 2 stereo inputs and imposes the amplitude envelope of the first one on the second one. Also has a threshold level for the second input, so that when the signal falls below it, it is amplified up to the threshold, to give a greater signal to be amplitude modulated.

II-V-I Exercise for Trumpet (Bb)

II-V-I is probably the most used chord progression in jazz, so, there are some simple patterns using this progression that you can practice and make this as a daily routine.
Those exercises I wrote doesn't get too much into the high register so those can be used as warm up.
First exercise use more simple arpeggios, second use some substitutions and sounds more interesting.

"Footprints" is a jazz standard composed by Wayne Shorter, first appearing on his 1966 album Adam's Apple.
Whilst in 6/4 metre, it is debatable whether it could be called a jazz waltz, since the feel could be divided into compound duple or simple triple time.

I wanted to make a free glockenspiel patch for Christmas, patch I thought to be for Mu.Lab and Kontakt, but I thought "why not try SampleTank, now that it's free".
Well, took a while to make it, mainly because SampleTank is a very close and hard to understand, at least the free version. So, because I was late with it, I thought "why not throw in there some more stuff?".

Unzip into the "Instruments" folder.

No loop points, no velocity multi layering, but still I think it might be useful. All samples recorded at 32 bit and converted to 16 bit wav stereo.
There are available 8 more child presets by jobromedia originally posted on KVR.

In order for the child presets to work, you should previously have the parent original samples.

Arpeggio Study no2 For Guitar

Original made way back in 2008, now reworked.
I tried to cover two aspects of guitar playing, the triads and the sweep picking. Basically all started because practicing arpeggios can be boring, so a technique switching and building sort of a melody (and all on top of a backing track) can "spice up" a bit practicing.

Blues Backing Tracks

Basic Blues Form
There is a very nice article in Wikipedia about blues, I can't add more to it, so go take a look. What I can do, is to sum a bit all the info and deliver the basic you'll need from the musician/ performer point of view.
1 - Basic form is 12 bars, 4 + 4 + 4, in a structure reminding of "question" + "answer" + "conclusion".
2 - Blue Notes. Because it comes from a very old African traditional form, minor and major gets a bit mixed up. African traditional music didn't have the minor and major concepts so...
3 - One of the basic forms is:

I | I or IV | I | I7 |
IV | IV | I | I7 |
V | IV | I | V7 :|| (repeat form)

however, there are also more complex forms with substitutions.
4 - Pentatonic contain notes from all chords in blues progression, that's why all guitarists overuse it.

Backing Tracks
A backing track is a recording that musicians play or sing along to in order to add parts to their music or to substitute a band.
The backing tracks I offer were intended for practicing but can be used as well for live performances.

Rock-Shuffle Blues Backing
A simple 12 bars blues form.
Tempo is 80 bpm.
Tonality A minor.

C-Jam Blues - Backing Track

Here, for inspiring you, is a version with Duke Ellington himself. Awesome!

"C Jam Blues" is a jazz standard composed in 1942 by Duke Ellington and performed by countless other musicians. As the title suggests, the piece follows a twelve-bar blues form in the key of C major and it's based on a simple riff.

New reworked Mu.Lab patch

A reworked version of the pack named "Choir Vowel Ensemble Pack" is available on the official Mutools website on the "Download" section.

Jo from Mutools converted all 6 patches into a MuSynth patch and also converted all samples to Ogg files to keep filesize low (in the original is 32 bit wav).
The quality is still decent but the size is much smaller, so it's more suitable for people with a slower internet connection or with smaller HD drives.

Install details:
Beware, if you use the Mu.Lab version you need:
- Mu.Lab (free version would do it just fine)
- Multisampla format patches separately - unzip them and copy the " Vowel Ensemble" folder to MULAB/User/Library/MuSynth - this will make available the separate patches (A, E, I, O and U) as Multisampla patches.
- Mux Patch that you copy to MULAB/User/Library/MUX - this put all the vowel patches into one "synth" that crossfade between vowels and allow you to make speech like patterns.
To see how is that done, you can download the "Ave Maria Sound Alike" file.

Few words about the Kontakt patch:
-Installation is easier, download, load in Kontakt and enjoy. The patch is "monolith" so you don't need to copy folders or keep track where are the files.
-To run the patch you need a full license of Kontakt. In Kontakt Player (the free version of Kontakt) the patch will run just in demo mode (that means 30 minutes and then stop).
